Tamils for Obama holding Conference on "Some Creative Governance Models And Their Relevance To Sri Lanka"

New York, NY (PRWEB) February 1, 2010

Tamils for Obama is arranging a meeting to allow Tamils and non-Tamil friends to brainstorm and come up with a governance model that advances the welfare of Tamils in Sri Lanka. Conferees will look for ways to advance the safety, cultural growth, and political well-being of Tamils in Sri Lanka. The conference will be held March 20, 2010 in a city in the northeastern U.S. (The final location has not yet been decided.)

Tamil Diaspora to EU: Sri Lankan Violations are the Symptom, not the Disease

Washington, DC (PRWEB) December 21, 2009

Colombo's long-time oppression of the Tamils is the disease, and the human rights violations that concern the EU are just a symptom, said Tamils for Obama in a letter to the EU's European Commission and the European Parliament's members. Unless the disease is cured--which means establishing a safe place for the Sri Lankan Tamils--the symptom will keep on recurring.

Tamils for Obama: Senate Report Hides the Most Important Fact About Sri Lanka

Washington, D.C. (PRWEB) December 10, 2009

The report titled "Sri Lanka: Recharting U.S. Strategy After the War" says that the U.S. must address the root issues that led to the civil war, if the U.S. is to repair relations with the strategically important island. The authors of the report, however, conceal Colombo's abuses of Sri Lankan Tamils that brought about the civil war that started in 1983, and so hides the most important fact of modern history in Sri Lanka.

Tamils for Obama: Let's Have a Conference to Talk About Our Tamil Transnational Government

Boston, MA (PRWEB) November 20, 2009

Tamils for Obama, responding to results of their latest poll (which showed that Eelam Tamils broadly favor a transnational government to represent Eelam Tamils world-wide) suggests a conference in a U.S. city to take steps to make the transnational government a reality. In a letter to "members and friends" the Tamil group asked for suggestions about where to have the conference and whom to ask to organize it.

Tamils for Obama Poll: What Now for the Tamils? Transitional Government?

Boston, MA (PRWEB) October 14, 2009

Tamils for Obama, an organization of politically active Tamils in the U.S., will conduct a poll from October 14, 2009 to November 4. The poll is titled "What now for the Tamils? Transitional Government?" The poll asks Tamils how to prepare for an eventual Tamil government in their homeland in northeastern Sri Lanka. The poll includes a text defining the terms "government in exile" and "transitional (or provisional) government."

Tamils for Obama Congratulates President on the Peace Prize, Asks Him to Help Restore Peace in Sri Lanka

New York, NY (PRWEB) October 9, 2009

Tamils for Obama wrote to congratulate President Obama on receiving the Nobel Peace Prize. It conveyed the good wishes of its members and asked Obama to take measures to protect Tamils in Sri Lanka from the on-going ethnic cleansing campaign of the Colombo government.

Tamils for Obama: EU Should Stop Subsidizing Lankan Abuses

Los Angeles, CA (PRWEB) October 2, 2009

The EU's GSP Plus program, that gives Sri Lankan goods tax-free entry into Europe, amounts to 8.1 billion U.S. dollars in charity, which Colombo can use to support its already over-sized armed forces. Tamils for Obama asserts that the hyper-militarized country only needs the extra forces because they expect more rebellion from the island nation's Tamils, a rebellion which they are doing everything to provoke.

Tamils for Obama: Mr. Rogers, if you invest in Sri Lanka, you will share the anger for Sri Lankan behavior

New York (PRWEB) September 21, 2009

Tamils for Obama wrote a letter to Jim Rogers, investor and co-founder (with George Soros) of the Quantum Fund, warning him that his apparent plans to invest in Sri Lanka will involve him with an increasingly disreputable business partner as news of Sri Lankan government's mistreatment of its Tamil minority during and since the civil war inevitably filter out. This story names some of the damaging allegations the will probably make investing in Sri Lanka embarrassing.

Tamils for Obama: Keep the Sri Lankan War Criminals Out of the U.S.

New York (PRWEB) August 28, 2009

A video recently emerged showing Sri Lankan soldiers executing bound and naked Tamil civilian prisoners. The video was broadcast by the U.K.'s Channel 4 news. Tamils for Obama wrote to Secretary of State Hillary Clinton, Attorney General Eric Holder, and U.S. Ambassador to Sri Lanka Patricia Butenis requesting them to block the entry of Sri Lankan President Rajapaksa's delegation to the U.N. General Assembly session this fall where he plans to present SL military men to the assembly for the world's approval. Tamils for Obama suggests that these soldiers will be revealed as war criminals and will eventually embarrass the U.N. and the U.S.
